Cold Water Immersion

Cold Water Immersion

What is cryotherapy?

When you see the word cryotherapy that translates into cold therapy where a person is introduced to very cold temperatures for several minutes. It may be targeted at one area of the body but generally speaking most people expose their whole body to cryotherapy.

This type of treatment can come in many forms such as cooling sprays, ice baths, ice massages, standard ice packs, or even a cryo-probe that can be administered into the human body.

Immersing yourself into extreme cold temperature is said to have many health benefits. You stand in an enclosed chamber with your head sticking out at the top. While in the enclosure the temperature can drop to as low as -128°C to -148°C & you stay in there for just a few minutes.

While you can feel great benefits from just one session… like most things in life it’s more effective the more you do it. Some high-level athletes are known to use cryotherapy 2 times a day while if you are attending a gym, sports club or just trying to relax you can see great results using cryotherapy 2-4 times per week.
